1-25-14 Davis, California. Inspired by a Northern California drought in the fall of 2013, Thirsty is a sculpture that tries to pour water into a digital desert. Dry rocks and scrub are splashed repeatedly and yet never receive quenching liquid. Both water and glass bend light in this piece, distorting the view of the desert. The photos are from a trip taken by Emily and collaborator Nicholas Weigand. Desert locations include the Mojave desert, Sodona, and other deserts throughout the Southwest..
